After working in warehouses and furniture home delivery for several years, in 1989 I started working at House of Oak in Austin for Max and Wendy Scarborough. Our relationship grew and my knowledge of furniture expanded. Then in 2007 House of Oak closed so I decided it was time for us to open our own shop. We had the experience and the relationships with some of the best craftsman and small furniture makers in America.
Since the economy was very soft, we were reluctant to sign a long expensive lease for a storefront in Austin and decided to build a small shop here on our property in Liberty Hill, TX. The name LOFT AND BUNGALOW comes from my love of modern furniture usually found in a loft-type setting and bungalow from the Craftsman Arts and Craft movement from the early 1900s. We sell fine wood furniture with great service at a great value for our customer. That’s the common sense approach.
For over 23 years I have worked with the same small family furniture shops including Wood Revival, Trend manor, Woodco Turning and Cherrico. On a daily basis, I work directly with the people making the furniture for my customers. It’s a small loop of communication between my customer, myself and the shops.
Come see the difference in true Quartersawn white oak, Solid Cherry, Walnut and Maple that makes this furniture special and affordable.
